The Cure

The Cure is a feature documentary that explores the mind of former super bowl champion NFL linebacker Bruce Davis. Bruce is currently suffering from perivascular spaces, an early stage of CTE, among a laundry list of other injuries from his days on the gridiron. His condition brought on a series of blackouts that developed into seizures. These led to Bruce’s breaking point, one where he made an attempt on his own life on the side of the freeway.

This is the story of how Bruce has come to cope with and begin to resolve his chronic injuries and mental health issues, starting with a miracle drug that’s been around since the beginning of life itself.

Solace

Aimee Dunkel lost her son Ben to a heroin overdose 5 years ago. At the time, she knew nothing of the drug or the effects it was having nationwide. Instead of wallowing in anger, Aimee decided to learn more about the drug and do something about it in the hopes that no mother would have to go through what she went through.

This sparked a crusade of compassion, where Aimee went out every day, handing out Naloxone in the hopes of preventing one death at a time. This film tells her story, while exploring what it means to try to confront the opioid epidemic head on, and what compassion really means.
