Case Study:

Thermo Fisher Benchtop Instruments

Commercial

Bold creative.

Thermo Fisher’s Benchtop line of instruments is built to save customers time. They wanted to creatively showcase this time savings, so we came up with a concept that felt like our hero scientist was dancing rapidly through the steps from initial sampling to award winning research. Watch the video below, then scroll to see our process.

Process: Concept

Understanding that Thermo Fisher wanted to highlight their time savings capabilities in a new, eye-catching way, we helped them come up with a concept that fit their brand while bringing new energy. We settled on a seemingly single take that moves seamlessly from space to space, with our hero dancing along to illustrate the ease of the process, along with some key VO to guide us through the narrative. Through a creative treatment that was shared with the client as a living document, we were quickly able to come to an agreement on creative.

Process: Storyboards

Once our creative concept was settled, we enlisted the help of one of our talented storyboard artists to begin bringing the concept to life. To maximize budget and our time on shoot day, we try to shoot to the boards as much as possible.

Process: Shoot Bible

The best shoots happen when the client has full transparency over the process, and the best way to achieve that transparency is by creating a shoot bible, or pre-production book. It’s a living deck that is continually compiled as pre-production progresses, including all the prior steps as well as actual props, renderings of sets, locations, casting, choreography, and anything else that’s relevant to the shoot. When we all show up to set, everything has been approved and there are no surprises.
